Safeguarding Adults Information;
Safeguarding adults means all work which enables an adult to retain independence, well being and choice and live a life that is free from abuse and neglect.
Newcastle Local Authority are committed to raising awareness of adult abuse and ensuring the workforce supporting vulnerable adults are adequately trained - appropriate to their role and in line with national standards.

Tyne and Wear Care Alliance supports the training provided by Newcastle and encourages employers to participate in this excellent FREE training opportunity.

There are currently 3 levels of training on offer - details opposite. Booking is directly with the Local Authority not through Tyne and Wear Care Alliance.

Workbooks are also available to support staff who find difficulty in attending the multi agency training sessions.

Mental Capacity Training;
This training is available in 2 levels from the Local Authority and is FREE

  • Basic Awareness 90 minute session - suitable for all staff.
  • Mental Capacity ACT Assessment 3 hours.
