North Tyneside - End of Life Training (EOL)

End of Life (EOL) Accredited Care Programme for Health and Social Care Assistants.

Course outcomes is

Level 3 Unit T/601/9495 Support Individuals at the End of Life

During 2010-2011 the Tyne and Wear Care Alliance worked in partnership with Newcastle and North Tyneside PCT to deliver an End of Life training programme for bands 1 - 4. Following the success of this programme, additional funding was secured with Northumbria Healthcare NHS for 2011-2012.

The 2011-2012 programme targets support staff working in a care setting whose job description includes caring for those who are terminally ill. The training is also available for those people working within Community Teams.

The course is facilitated by North Tyneside Specialist Palliative Care Team and the learning outcomes are:

Understand Palliative Care

• Applying a “whole person” approach to Palliative Care
• Supporting a person with their physical care needs
• Care during the final hours of life and bereavement
